Leave Car running and lock the doors

When I turn the car off and walk away the doors lock but when the vehicle is running and I want to run in and grab a drink or a snack or whatever for the wife n kids or just alone the doors don't lock if the cars running is there a way to fix this?

EDIT: So took the car into the dealership and found out that there is no fix for the door locks per Honda dealership and Honda America/Honda Japan, you can use Hondata to fix the car to lock while its running but make sure you unhook before taking to the dealership.

2nd The carplay radio crashed on me and the dealership gave me a pamphlet from Honda that says replace iPhone/Android cord with Genuine Product. IE: not a Walmart one or your local store, you need the actual cord from the manufacture. You need to set your apps through the phone 1st before you try and change them on the radio. If you pull the infotainment fuse out of the fuse box for 15seconds and put it back in you can do it yourself (make sure you have the radio code).

Honda is tracking the Infotainment system issue and that is their fix, the dealership reset my radio and did a flash update (your car will do it if you hook it to WIFI at the dealership). Just wanted to update the community with the fix that I found through the dealer and Honda America/Japan.

Bring your spare fob with you. That's what I do sometimes.

I haven't tried this, but you may be able to use the physical key inside your key fob to manually lock the doors while it's running.

@GhostRider13506 this works. I've done it myself in the winter to warm up my car. Though I have a remote start for that now.

I definitely agree. It would be nice to have the option.

Because there will always be that person that ends up locking their keys in the cabin while the engine is running. Unfortunately, manufacturers have to make things as idiot proof as possible because they always end up being blamed for our stupidities.

It could be a worse design...Mazda, which I love, had to design their remote start (which is from the phone app), to shutoff the car when you open a door. You then have to restart the vehicle. I thought this was because of theft, but it seems like it has to do with their radar for the "sensing" stuff. No setting or adjustment available.

Yeah i know im not that dumbass i keep the key in pocket,
@NHCivicGuy I tried it, You can not lock it by pressing the button and if you use the key to lock it you have to use the key to unlock it.

EDIT: Honda USA said the walk away while its running is a feature that needs to be programmed by the dealer, also it will not shut off when the key is not in the vehicle I drove about 2 miles down the road with the key in the garage and it let me go. Without shutting off

This is probably a case of RTF owners manual but If the car is running and I want to open the trunk, I can't. So I turn the engine off to access the trunk. I step out of the car and walk around to the passenger door to open it and the car immediately locks itself. I want to open the rear door to mess with my son's booster seat but the door is locked. So first I approach the front door for the automatic unlock thing to click, open the door, THEN open the rear door. I love my CTR but this car needs to calm down when it comes to it obsessively locking itself.

you can turn off the proximity lock/unlock.

I did it after I washed my car the first time and the thing kept locking/unlocking as I walked back and forth around it. lol.

The proximity unlock requires you to actually put your hand inside the front doors' handle or the hatch button. I've never had it unlock by just walking up to it. Though the lock is a walkaway (or physically pressing the black button).

you dont have to turn the engine off to open the rear hatch.
You cant use the fob to unlock it if the engine is running but you just have to press unlock on the door and you can open the hatch.

you just need to turn off walk away auto lock. mines been turned off since day 1.
also not just the CTR but almost all cars nowadays will auto lock the car after a certain time if the driver side door is not opened after unlocking the car.
