La Casa De Papel Season 2 Ending Review

Warning: Spoilers ahead for all seasons of Netflix'southMoney Heist.

I did not initially intend to become emotionally fastened to the Spanish criminal offense-drama. My love for La Casa De Papel/Money Heist is like Sergio Marquina's beloved for Raquel Murillo – unplanned.

It all started one night in April when I found my sister watching the show in our home theater. The very get-go character that my eyes laid upon was Denver in the scene from episode iv of season ane when he was disposed his hostage's, Mónica Gaztambide, gunshot wound in her leg. My sister then informed me of the backstory of how Denver refused to submit to Berlin's orders in killing Mónica but instead shot her in the leg as she allowed him to exercise so to imitation her death. Right away, I was very fascinated at how Denver – a criminal – still had a sense of morality in him and cared about the life of a woman that he was holding captive.

Netflix

The post-obit scene introduced me to Moscow, Denver's male parent, who was having a nightmare of his son murdering Mónica since he was under the impression that Denver did indeed impale her. The fact that Moscow – some other criminal partaking in the heist – was horrified when he believed that his son killed the earnest speaks volumes. Not only was information technology fabricated clear that papa didn't heighten a murderer but it was as well brought to my attention that these criminals were more their labels.

Information technology was in that very moment that simply like Raquel Murillo, I did non know who the skillful guys or bad guys were anymore – but that is the point! According to Itziar Ituño –  who portrays Raquel in Money Heist,

"Each of the characters has different motivations and is neither good nor bad, and that was intentional, only there was also the thought of showing the injustices of society. Some people have a lot of money and some people struggle to reach the cease of the calendar month and so it was a way of showing that and that'due south also why yous have more sympathy for the robbers because they haven't got money and when they need more they only do what the banking concern does – they just print some more. The good characters aren't very good and the bad ones aren't very bad – just similar life!"

After my sister gave me a practiced epitomize on what I missed (I later on on skimmed episodes i-3 and the scenes that I did not see in episode four), I was immediately immersed into this very unique story.Coin Heist accurately delivers the fact that everyone has the adequacy to practice expert or evil in a plot that has never been done earlier. Accept yous ever heard of a grouping of criminals plotting for v months to not steal coin merely print information technology? That is exactly what Sergio (El Professor) Marquina and his crew are all nearly!

Sergio gathered his one-half-brother and a grouping of seven misfit strangers to help him pull off the biggest heist in history – printing two.iv billion euros in the Royal Mint of Spain every bit a tribute to his father who died robbing banks to provide the money to treat young Sergio when he was in the hospital. He had each of his colleagues call his or herself a city name to prevent his or her truthful identity being exposed to the police force. The Professor efficiently communicated with his squad through walkie talkies when guiding them through diverse situations to prevent the police from tuning into their calls and/or tracing his location. He outsmarted the cops numerous times – tricking them into doing exactly what he wanted them to do. He even conveniently befriended Raquel Murillo, the inspector of the example, at a bar which enabled him to successfully remain i step ahead of the constabulary's agenda.

All of this was similar a game of chess to Sergio Marqunia, and to say that he was very proficient at information technology was an understatement. His plan was flawless…until it wasn't. The merely dent in his otherwise perfect plan was that he ended up falling in love with his nemesis, Raquel Murillo.

Netflix

And that was how the testify officially stole my middle. Correct there and so, Coin Heist hands became my absolute favorite Television set series – not merely considering I am a complete sucker for the enemies-to-lovers trope simply likewise the romance between Sergio and Raquel was and so well-written. Their onscreen chemistry, in my opinion, is superior by far to any other boob tube couple. The sexual tension between them has been very alive ever since they started conversing every bit the Professor and the Inspector over the phone.

The famous quote from the musical, Moulin Rouge!, "The greatest thing you'll ever acquire is just to love and be loved in return," is truly the theme of Sergio and Raquel'due south relationship. Sergio spent half of his life planning this heist to honor his deceased male parent. He quit renewing his ID at the age of xix, and he isolated himself for then long that he practically became a ghost. He even admitted to Raquel that before he met her he did not know how to enjoy life. Withal, beingness with her now has finally given him a strong desire to experience alive that he does not desire to ignore.

Raquel, on the other hand, was a victim of domestic abuse and has never experienced true love earlier she met Sergio. Sergio, unlike her ex-husband, was real with her. Although he initially lied to her about who he was to forbid his heist from foiling, his deep feelings for Raquel were nothing just 18-carat – fifty-fifty a polygraph proved it! The Professor legitimately fell hard for the Inspector.

Raquel eventually realized that Sergio is more than merely a "bad guy" and is still very well, in fact, the man that she fell in honey with. It was only moments subsequently after the clip above when she joined his side.

There are sincerely not enough words to express the ability and excellence that these two possess when they are together. The most intelligent human on the show plus the most intelligent woman on the evidence does not just equal an unstoppable squad but also makes one heck of a badass couple. They really were the best thing to happen to each other.

Even so, all of a sudden out of nowhere, they no longer were. In flavour four episode half dozen, it was revealed in a flashback that before the second heist (aka the mission to rescue Rio) began, Sergio agreed to donate his sperm to Nairobi so that she can take a baby.

First of all, the idea of Sergio giving his sperm to Nairobi period is weird as heck and almost feels like adulterous. Fifty-fifty though he did refuse to do information technology the traditional way, it does not alter the fact that he would be having a child with one woman while beingness in a committed relationship with another. One would think he would feel funny about agreeing to something huge like this, but clearly he did not when he so casually alleged to Marsella that he could be having kids with 2 of his colleagues. I don't know virtually anyone else, but I did not expect this relationship to go a polygamist direction!

The worst office of this, however, is non that Sergio agreed to practise this but that he agreed without his girlfriend'due south consent. If Raquel was aware and okay with this, then I would have at to the lowest degree felt somewhat meliorate about this situation, but considering that she was completely left in the night is outright disrespectful. Every bit his partner, she has more than every right to know what he does with his sperms; as a couple, this was certainly something that they should have discussed before Sergio could even consider agreeing to.

What'southward even more despicable is that Raquel did know that Nairobi was having a baby only was under the imitation impression that it was from a friend with benefits. Nairobi did non fifty-fifty, at the very to the lowest degree, own up to the truth that she was using the ex-inspector's boyfriend for a kid. She also wanted to sleep with Sergio while being very aware that he is dating Raquel. This tells me that if it was the other way around, and Raquel died rather than Nairobi, I really don't think she would mourn like Raquel mourned for her.

Living in a society that is pro women's rights, one would think that the writers would give their female characters a sense of nobility. What do they do instead? Regress Nairobi'southward arc – having information technology revolve around her obsession with having a baby with absolutely anyone from the show instead of it existence so much more. This subplot was also practically a slap in Raquel's face, equally if her love for Sergio and her loyalty to the squad meant nothing at all to them.

Practise they seriously not know who they're dealing with? If Raquel really wanted to, she could have turned all of their butts in years ago. It is such a shame to witness the writers mistreat the all-time character on the show (I'one thousand not just saying this because we share the same proper name). If this were reality, not one of them would cartel to get on her bad side. Everyone knows that Raquel Murillo can end anyone while wearing her iconic pencil bun!

Postal service-bingingMoney Heist, I was left in a funk every bit most movies and Television receiver shows put me in these days. Information technology really let me downwards to sentry my well established ship turn into something utterly toxic. No couple is perfect – Raquel and Sergio have even argued a few times in flavour three which was completely normal – but for him to not confide in his girlfriend nigh such a serious thing was way out of his character. It was almost as if the flavour four writers did not bother to lookout the previous seasons.

After doing some digging, it turns out that they most likely did not later all. TheTeCake states thatMoney Heist was originally intended to exist a express series told in two parts that initially aired on the Castilian network Antena three. In other words, the bear witness was supposed to cease after season 2 which gave u.s. a happily satisfying determination to the story that began in flavour ane. Netflix, unfortunately, wouldn't leave this incredible series alone, thinking it was a rather "genius" idea to add together more unnecessary seasons that nobody asked for. Considering that season 3 was the start of a whole new chapter, the new writers that were hired for the new seasons probably accept not seen seasons i and 2 of Money Heist(there definitely were new writers on board according to IMDb).

All of this now makes perfect sense and totally explains the inconsistency of Sergio's character in flavour 4. On i manus, he's heartbroken and devastated when he thought the dearest of his life had died. While it was revealed to the audience that the police faked Raquel'south execution, information technology was withal very painful to watch the Professor grieve for her. Álvaro Morte – who portrays Sergio Marquina – even mentioned that this was his hardest scene to shoot which shows how much try he puts into making his romance with co-star Ituño'due south character believable. Then, when he learned that she is still alive, Sergio did everything in his power to prevent her from being sent to prison house and succeeded.

On the other hand, notwithstanding, he was still keen on having a baby with Nairobi. She may be expressionless at present just that does not erase the fact that it was going to happen if she survived without Raquel's cognition and permission. If only these writers knew that Sergio is tired of lying to Raquel and does non want to hurt her as he told her in the polygraph scene in season 2, this subplot would not exist!

Can we also hash out how in season 3, Raquel and Sergio were only talking about getting married but then in flavour 4, he referred to her as his wife? Sure, she probably felt like a wife to him since they basically lived like a married couple, merely he however hasn't put a band on her finger. I'm starting to think that the new writers practise not fifty-fifty think their own episodes that they write.

Now looking back at the third season, though information technology was cute watching the two smartest people on the prove finally work side by side together on the aforementioned team, it was even excruciatingly obvious then that the writers had not watched the preceding seasons. In the finale, when Sergio and Raquel got separated in the midst of hiding from the cops, he told her over their walkie talkie conversation that he was in love with her for the commencement time…look, that doesn't audio right!

The scene above is from flavor 2 episode 6. That was the very first time that Sergio Marquina has always professed his dearest for Raquel Murillo. He also did a second time in flavor 2 episode eight. Therefore, season iii episode viii (aka the season iii finale) was actually the third time that he told her that he is in beloved with her. Whether the writers truly missed these episodes from season two or they just decided to tune out like Raquel did in the heat of the moment, it does not alter that Sergio did, in fact, confess his beloved for her to her face.

Equally heartfelt as this scene is (not to mention the romantic montage flashback), the continuity error here is just then embarrassing. Seasons 3 and 4 of Money Heist are basically what the results of a college pupil's essay would look like if he or she started it at 11pm and had to turn it in past xi:59pm that same night.

In light of all of this, at least it is at present safe to say that Serquel (Sergio and Raquel'southward 'ship' proper noun) is still a valid ship since seasons 1 and 2 make up a separate story from seasons 3 and beyond. Although I may still lookout man the 5th flavor whenever it releases, considering that season 4 left off on a major bewilderment, I honestly do non even intendance what happens anymore (unless they miraculously reveal that the tertiary and 4th seasons were just a bad dream that 1 of the characters had or that Tokyo was drunkard while narrating and gave viewers false information). Money Heist ended after flavour 2 for me – anything after that is simply Netflix's unwanted fanfiction!

If I knew any better, I honestly would accept stopped after the season two finale. I actually wish I had! Even a part of me deep down had a feeling that something would go wrong in one of the later seasons. I just had no clue it would have been this bad. In all honesty, butchering a character's arc is practically the same as literally killing the character itself.

Flavor 2's ending is not but perfect because of its happy decision but it as well beautifully parallels how Sergio and Raquel met in flavour 1. At the end of episode two in season 1, Sergio lent his phone to Raquel at a bar so that she could brand some calls since her telephone died. In the concluding scene of the season 2 finale, Raquel's phone died again while she was looking for Sergio in Palawan, using the coordinates he wrote on the back of the postcards that he gave her. Once more, she went to a bar and asked the bartender if he had a telephone charger. Afterwards he shook his head, a man sitting on the end, wearing a fancy adjust and lid, turned effectually, revealing himself to be Sergio while responding, "If information technology'due south important, yous can use mine."

If this isn't the all-time possible ending then I don't know what is. Heck, this is the best catastrophe to whatever Tv set series or season I've ever seen! At this rate, I'1000 convinced that Rio never got captured by the police and that Sergio and Raquel are nevertheless living happily ever after without whatever sperm donor drama – I mean later on all, this isn't Jane the Virgin!
